Uppsalafilosofen Folke Tersman invald i Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien

Folke Tersman, professor i praktisk filosofi vid Uppsala universitet, har valts in som ledamot i klassen för humaniora och för framstående förtjänst om vetenskap vid Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien.
Folke Tersmans forskning handlar främst om frågor om moraliska föreställningars status och funktion. I boken Moral Disagreement diskuterar han bland annat vilken relevans förekomsten av värderingsskillnader inom och mellan kulturer har för frågor om moralens objektivitet. I likhet med en av sina företrädare i Uppsala, Axel Hägerström, försvarar han tanken att det inte finns objektiva värdefakta i kraft av vilka moraliska föreställningar kan vara sanna.
Förutom ett flertal fackfilosofiska arbeten på engelska har Folke Tersman också skrivit en rad populärvetenskapliga böcker på svenska. Den senaste boken Tillsammans är en filosofisk debattbok om hur vi kan rädda vårt klimat.
Folke Tersman är sedan tidigare ledamot i Academia Europaea samt i Kungl. Humanistiska Vetenskaps-Samfundet i Uppsala.
